TRUST ME
War, terrible war. Widows, orphans, a motherless child. This was the uprising that rocked our land. Thirteen districts rebelled against the country that fed them, loved them, protected them. Brother turned on brother until nothing remained. And then came the peace, hard fought, sorely won. A people rose up from the ashes and a new era was born. But freedom has a cost. When the traitors were defeated, we swore as a nation we would never know this treason again. And so it was decreed, that each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up in tribute, one young man and woman, to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice. The lone victor, bathed in riches, would serve as a reminder of our generosity and our forgiveness. This is how we remember our past. This is how we safeguard our future.
Currently in the summer of 46ADD, the nation of Panem has grown accustomed to the ways of life, obeying the Capitol and carrying out their duties. However this is all an act put on by the Capitol through the use of technology. Each district believes the next to be content with the way of life, accepting the district's generosity and forgiveness. Throughout the year, there is at least one attempt at an uprising made by several of the districts. One district is making medicine in secret against the Capitol's laws. A district beneath the ground is using all resources possible to spread out a rebellion cause for every district to ensure the downfall of the Capitol. With so many people still loyal to the Capitol in some districts, it's been a hard process.
With the 46th annual hunger games around the corner, things are bound to heat up as twenty three young people are about to lose their lives. As the games are occurring, the summer is being labeled as a hot one for it's expected to reach high temperatures in some areas of the nation. With more deaths bound to be on the rise and with a Capitol not too concerned about the rest of the nation, will the districts begin to realize that not everything is just as they have seen on the TV? Will they learn that their trust in the Capitol is not something that should be given? Who will the rebels learn to trust with their secrets of District 13 in a world filled with more supporters than rebels at the present time? Trust me, this is not a summer you would want to miss out on.
